Panneçot - view of the canal Panneçot - view of the canal

Panneçot, a calm little village, is sheltered away from the major road and railways and is situated in the area of Limanton in south-west Burgundy.

The river Aron and the Nivernais canal flow through it.

Its tranquillity, pure clean air and the beautiful landscapes have attracted many English and Dutch visitors who have gone on to buy and carefully restore old country houses.

The port of Panneçot is fitted out to welcome pleasure boats navigating the Nivernais canal. Within the port premises a campsite and two tennis courts welcome the sailors.

When walking through Limanton, a must-see is the castle and a visit to its French gardens.
The neogothic church is also worth a visit.
The Regional Nature Park of Morvan, created in 1970, is spread out over four departments: la Cote d´Or, la Nièvre, la Saone-et-Loire and the Yonne, as well as ten towns: Arnay-le-Duc, Autun, Avallon, Chatillon-en-Bazois, Corbigny, Etang-sur-Arroux, Liernais, Luzy, Moulins-Engilbert et Saint-Honore-les-Bains.
Its role is to protect the natural and cultural heritage and to promote its reception.
The Morvan has become a privileged country for people looking for beautiful landscapes, calm surroundings and rest all in the midst of nature.

The Nivernais Canal The Nivernais canal

The Nivernais canal is almost entirely used for pleasure cruises and opportunities to rent are numerous.

From Auxerre to Clamecy and Corbigny, it follows a wild trail through the Yonne valley, through locks in Sardy and arches in Colancelle, reaching the ponds in Vaux and Baye, where its journey reached its peak.

The canal then descends calmly towards the Loire valley through the Bazois prairies, passing through Chatillon and Cercy-la-Tour.
